Round 10 of 22: so many inchidents so little time
I’m in beautiful Maine for my mom’s birthday, which meant a civilized 9am race start and watching with an earl grey tea and banana bread in hand rather than a 5:45am alarm and being mildly grumpy in bed.
A quick life update: I am moving back to New York City (!!) in just a few weeks. No more 6am PST European races for me, and it's finally time to bring back watch parties. I've got a few things cooking, so stay tuned (and reach out!) if you're local.
As incredible as Spa is, this one doubled as a pregame for the World Cup final. I’m part Spanish so ¡¡VAMOS!! I loved the drivers’ comments. Colapinto admitted he was more nervous about the match than the race. Alonso's main focus was getting home in time for kickoff. And Sainz, due to fly back to Monaco with Charles, was sweating that a "lengthy" Ferrari debrief might foil his viewing plans. Congrats to our Spaniards!
What a track to spend the pregame on. Nothing on the broadcast beats the Eau Rouge shot. I can only imagine what it feels like from the cockpit. We didn’t get the typical unpredictable Spa weather, but there was plenty of action to go around nonetheless.
