It’s basically Christmas morning for the Formula 1 x sports business crowd: Sportico just released its 2025 team valuations. I was lucky enough to take an early look at the numbers and sit down with Kurt Badenhausen, the man behind the calculations. Here’s what I found most interesting.
Over the past twelve months, every single Formula 1 team saw at least 20% growth in valuation. McLaren led the way with a 78% increase, followed by Williams at 73%. Even Alpine, despite leadership turmoil and sitting 10th in the Constructors’ Championship, saw a 39% bump this year. Red Bull saw the lowest growth of any team, albeit still up 23%.
Half a decade ago some teams were fighting for survival. Today, even the unprofitable and back-marker outfits are billion-dollar properties in one of sport’s fastest-appreciating ecosystems. A rising tide lifts all boats, indeed.
Why Team Values Are Surging
While the valuation boom isn’t only about results on track, it’s clear from the numbers
